Notchy – Notes, To-Do & Shopping Lists · Last updated: July 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Notchy – Notes, To-Do & Shopping Lists ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use the App. Notchy is developed and published by WebApSolution.

1. Summary

Notchy is an offline-first app. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server that your notes, tasks, or shopping lists are sent to. Everything you create is stored locally on your device in a private app database. The only data leaving your device is the minimum information Google's advertising network (AdMob) collects to show ads, as described below.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Content you create

Notes, to-do lists, tasks, shopping lists, and shopping items you create are stored only in a local database on your device. We do not have a server, we cannot see this content, and it is never transmitted anywhere by the App itself.

2.2 Information collected automatically by advertising

The App displays banner and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google AdMob and its partners may automatically collect:

  • Device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID)
  • General device information (device model, OS version, language, screen size)
  • Approximate location derived from IP address
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us, under Google's Privacy Policy. You can review and adjust your ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com, and on Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings → Privacy → Ads (path varies by device/Android version).

2.3 Voice input (speech-to-text)

If you use the microphone/dictation button in the App, Smart Notes does not record or process your voice itself. It hands the request to your device's default speech recognition app (typically the Google app) via a standard Android system intent, and only receives back the transcribed text. Any audio data is captured and processed by that external app under its own privacy policy — Smart Notes never has access to the raw audio.

2.4 Notifications and reminders

If you set a reminder on a task, the App schedules a local alarm on your device using Android's AlarmManager and shows a local notification when it fires. This happens entirely on-device; no reminder data is sent to us or to any third party.

3. Permissions the App Requests

PermissionWhy it's needed
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)To show task reminder notifications you've set.
Schedule exact alarmsSo reminders fire at the exact time you choose.
Receive boot completedTo re-schedule your pending reminders after you restart your device (Android clears scheduled alarms on reboot).
VibrateTo vibrate the device when a reminder notification arrives.
InternetRequired by the Google AdMob SDK to request and display ads.
Wake lockUsed by the alarm/notification system to briefly wake the device to deliver a reminder on time.

The App does not request access to your contacts, camera, precise location, call logs, SMS, or files outside of what you explicitly choose to export or share.

4. Data Storage and Retention

All content you create is stored locally in an SQLite database on your device. It stays there until you:

  • Delete the specific note, task, or shopping list within the App, or
  • Clear the App's storage/data via Android system settings, or
  • Uninstall the App.

We do not retain any copy of this content anywhere else, because we never receive it in the first place.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not have your data to sell. The only sharing that occurs is:

  • With Google AdMob, for the limited purpose of serving ads (see Section 2.2), and
  • With whatever app or service you personally choose when you use a Share or Export feature within the App (for example, sharing a note's text via another app on your device). That sharing is initiated by you, and the receiving app's own privacy policy applies from that point on.

6. Children's Privacy

Notchy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us using the details below and we will address it.

7. Your Choices

  • Delete your data: delete individual items in-app, or clear app storage / uninstall to remove everything at once.
  • Ad personalization: manage this at adssettings.google.com or in your device's ad settings.
  • Notifications: disable them anytime in Android Settings → Apps → Smart Notes → Notifications.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App's features change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
